Jalen Thomas (Detroit, Mich.) and Preston Santos (Warwick, R.I.) officially sign with UMass Basketball.

AMHERST, Mass. – The UMass men's basketball team officially added a pair of highly touted newcomers for next season as Jalen Thomas (Detroit, Mich.) and Preston Santos (Warwick, R.I.) signed National Letters of Intent on Wednesday during the start of the early signing period.

Thomas is a 6-foot-10, 230 pound center from University of Detroit Jesuit High School, while Santos is a 6-foot-6, 176 pound guard from Woodstock Academy.

Along with playing at Woodstock Academy, Santos also plays AAU basketball with Expressions Elite. An athletic combo guard, Santos has the ability to both shoot from the perimeter and drive the lane.

Thomas will add size to the Minutemen's front court next fall. As a noted rebounder who has skill around the basket, Thomas has a high growth potential while also making immediate contributions. In addition to playing for Detroit Jesuit, he plays AAU for Reach Legends.
