Tennis Posts Three Wins On ITA Northeast Regional Day Two

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - University of Massachusetts tennis took in three victories during rhe second day of competition at the ITA Northeast Regional, hosted at Yale University, on Friday. Martina Bocchi highlighted the outing with a win in doubles alongside Anna Napadiy, as well as a victory in singles, and Jodie Lawrence-Taylor added another triumph in singles play.

Round one of doubles action pitted Janja Kovacevic and Lawrence-Taylor against familiar foes in Rutgers' Kristiana Zahare and Jaci Cochrane, with the Scarlet Knights sneaking away with an 8-7 (8) victory over the Minutewomen.

Napadiy and Bocchi also competed in the first round of doubles play and came away victorious. The Maroon and White downed Sacred Heart's Brianne Lauria and Olivia Podsiebierski 8-3 for a berth in the afternoon's second round. In their second match of the day, Napadiy and Bocchi nearly secured an upset of No. 5-8 seeded Sofya Treshcheva and Sofya Golubovskaya before the Syracuse doubles pairing took an 8-7 (5) decision.

Bocchi and Lawrence-Taylor also played in the singles main draw on Friday with round one victories. Lawrence-Taylor downed Quinnipiac's Dominique Vasile 7-5, 6-2 and Bocchi bested Saint Francis' Jean-Na Koo 6-2, 6-1.
