Baseball's Kessinger Tabbed Co-Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts baseball freshman outfielder/left-handed pitcher Nolan Kessinger has been selected as the Co-Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. The honor marks the first of Kessinger's career and the first for a member of the Minutemen this season.
 
The Northborough, Massachusetts, native tied for the team lead in batting average on the week, going 10-for-20 over five games for a .500 average as the Minutemen posted wins over North Dakota State (9-5) and Bucknell (17-5) to close out an eight-game stint in Florida. Kessinger hit safely in all five games on the week to extend his hitting streak to a squad-best eight, with three multi-hit efforts. He logged three doubles and three RBI while scoring runs in four of five games on the week for a total of seven.
 
Kessinger also made the first two pitching appearances of his career on the week and pitched 1.2 innings of hitless relief over two outings.
 
On the year, Kessinger currently leads the Minutemen with a .412 batting average and is tied for second in runs scored (8) over 10 games.
