Women’s Swimming and Diving Finishes Third at Atlantic 10 Championships

Ansley Baker adds 100 free school record to impressive sophomore campaign.

GENEVA, Ohio – An impressive four days for the UMass swimming and diving team earned the Minutewomen a third-place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championships which concluded on Saturday night at the SPIRE Institute.
 
Richmond won the overall women's meet with 570 points followed by Duquesne with 498.5 points. The Minutewomen posted 457 points over the four-day event.

After winning both the one-meter and three-meter dives during the competition, Emma Roush was named the Most Outstanding Diver, while UMass Diving Head Coach Mandy Hixon was named the A-10 Women's Diving Coach of the Year for the 11th time on the women's side.
 
Ansley Baker highlighted Saturday's competition with a third-place finish in the 100 free. She touched the wall in a school-record time of 50.30 seconds.
 
UMass saw a pair of top-10 finishes in the 200 breast by Meriza Werenski (6th, 2:17.20) and Sydney Connor (8th, 2:18.52). Connor's prelim time of 2:17.68 was the third-fastest mark in program history.
 
Other notable performances on the day included Meghan Gray and Maddie Biron swimming the third and fourth-fastest times in the 200 back, respectively. Gray posted a time of 2-minutes, 2.77 seconds in her prelim race, while Biron was just 0.21 seconds behind.
 
Hayley Masi rounded out the top performances with the ninth-fastest time at UMass in the 100 free touching in 51.91 seconds.
