Donte Gets To 1K
In need of 18 points to reach 1,000 for his career at the University of Massachusetts, Donte Clark poured in 27 against Rider and became the 50th member of the UMass Men's Basketball 1,000-Point Club. Clark reached 1,000 in his 76th career game (13.2 points per game career average) and became the first junior class member to eclipse quadruple digits since Chaz Williams did so in 2012-13.

Clark currently ranks 39th all-time in UMass history for points scored with 1,055 entering play at VCU.

Wide Open Spaces
UMass men's basketball outscored foes on the fastbreak, 175-101 through the opening 15 games of the year. After the squad only reached double-figures in fastbreak points during four of the opening nine games, Massachusetts has at least 10 fastbreak points in each of the most recent six games played. In that span the Minutemen average 16.5 fastbreak points to 7.2 for their foes.

Just Point To The Hoop And Say, Go Holloway Up
Rashaan Holloway ranks second in the Atlantic 10 with his 62.2 field goal percentage (61-of-98) through games on Thurs. Jan. 5. Holloway does not have enough makes per game (5.0) to qualify for the NCAA rankings. His percentage would place him 14th overall in the nation with the prerequisite number of made baskets per game played. Holloway is shooting 65.2 percent in his last five games (30-46; 6.0-9.2).

Luwane Strip-kins, Fast-Handed Minuteman
Freshman guard Luwane Pipkins has the eighth-most steals per game (2.80) across NCAA Division I men's basketball and also ranks seventh in total steals (42) through games on Thurs., Dec. 5. He is one of only two players in NCAA Division I with two games of seven or more steals this season (8 vs. UMass Lowell; 7 vs. UCF).

His eight against UMass Lowell also rank tied for the fifth-most in a single game in NCAA Division I this season and are tied for the most in the history of the UMass men's basketball program.

Led by Pipkins' 42, UMass owns the 13th-most steals per game (9.1) in the nation as of contests on Thurs., Jan. 5. The Minutemen are one of only 13 teams in the country averaging nine or more steals per game.

Quick With The Dish
University of Massachusetts men's basketball ranks tied for 34th in the nation in assists per game with an average of 17.0 dished out per contest as of play on Thurs., Jan. 5. It ranks first among Atlantic 10 teams by more than an assist per game (VCU, 16.3, 58th). The Minutemen do not rely on one distribution leader as four Minutemen average 2.5 or more assists per game: DeJon Jarreau (4.2), Donte Clark (3.4), Luwane Pipkins (3.2) and C.J. Anderson (2.6).

Just Can't Wait To Get On The Road Again
Five Minutemen scored in double figures during the five road games, led by Luwane Pipkins' 15.4 points per game. Donte Clark scores 13.4 per road game and Rashaan Holloway (12.8 points), Zach Lewis (11.2) and DeJon Jarreau (10.6) follow. As a team, the Minutemen own a slim 76.0-to-75.2 scoring advantage when away from the Mullins Center while the squad hits 44.6 percent of its shots (133-of-298).

20-Pointers A Team-Wide Routine
Six members of the program have at least one outing with 20 or more points through the opening 12 games played. Those six Minutemen include Donte Clark (29 vs. Harvard; 22 vs. North Carolina A&T, 27 vs. Rider), Tyrn Flowers (20 vs. UCF), Rashaan Holloway (21 vs. UMass Lowell; 21 at Providence), DeJon Jarreau (25 at Ole Miss), Zach Lewis (20 at Ole Miss) and Luwane Pipkins (20 at Providence, 27 vs. Kennesaw State).

Massachusetts is one of only two teams in the country with six or more players who recorded at least one 20-point game in 2016-17, joined by Memphis.

Flowers Blossoms Into 3-Point Threat
Freshman forward Tyrn Flowers connected on six 3-point field goals against UCF, a personal best and - at the time - the most by a Minuteman since Jabarie Hinds had seven in the 108-99 overtime win at Duquesne on Feb. 14, 2016. Flowers has at least one made 3-point field goal in 10 of the 15 games played this season. He is 21-of-60 overall this season (35.0 percent) on 3-pointers.

Anderson Named A NABC Good Works Team Nominee
C.J. Anderson was selected as a nominee for the 2017 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Good Works Team, as announced by the NABC on Wed., Nov. 30. Anderson is one of 181 men's basketball student-athletes from the NCAA Divisions I, II, II and NAIA levels chosen as a nominee.

The Allstate NABC and WBCA Good Works Teams recognize players at all levels of college basketball whose charitable involvement and altruistic acts stand out amongst all other student-athletes participating in the sport. From leading an initiative to help end the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, to co-founding a non-profit with the mission to improve literacy rates across the country, the players nominated embody the true spirit of teamwork and giving back.
