Seniors Lead Young Minutewomen Squads to Successful 2015-16

AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts women's track and field seniors helped lead a young and talented team to a 2015-16 year marked with success for the Minutewomen. UMass took home its first Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field title since 1998 this past indoor season and tied for third at the A-10 cross country meet.
Sara Bierly, a kinesiology major from Portland, Conn., scored in pole vault at the Atlantic 10 Championships six times in her career, including a fourth-place finish in the event as a freshman outdoors in 2013 and a sixth-place showing in her final A-10 championship last weekend. She holds the No. 4 all-time mark in pole vault on the all-time UMass outdoor list.
Alexa Fearing, a psychology major from Marlborough, Mass., competed in the throws events at four A-10 meets for the Minutewomen and qualified for the New England Championships in shot put in outdoors in 2015.
Molly McMahon, a computer science major from Swansea, Mass., ran cross country and track for four seasons with the Minutewomen, competing in the Atlantic 10 Track and Field Championships six times and the New England Championships on three occasions, running the 3,000m, the 5,000m and the 10,000m.
Katie Osborne, a public health sciences major from Cicero, N.Y., competed in seven A-10 meets and four New England meets and scored in the heptathlon and high jump. She is second all-time indoors for the high jump and fifth all-time for the heptathlon.
Meghan Patrolia, a kinesiology major from Hingham, Mass., competed in the Atlantic 10 and New England Championships all four years, highlighted by a fourth-place finish in the 60m hurdles at the A-10 indoor championship in 2014 and fifth in the event at the New England Championships. She is ranked 4th all time in the 60 hurdles.
Lexi Rewick, a psychology major from Rockaway, N.J., became a member of the Minutewomen in 2012 and competed in pole vault and 400m hurdles at the A-10 Championships outdoors in 2013.
Emma Robinson, a sociology, psychology and criminal justice major from Swanzey, N.H., threw javelin for the Minutewomen for four seasons and earned silver medals in the event at both the A-10 Championships and the New England Championships in 2015. Her PR of 139 feet, 9 inches ranks third all-time in UMass history.
Carly Zinner, a civil engineering major from Sussex, N.J., capped off her cross country career by earning all-conference honors with a 15th place finish at the 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship. She took home three medals to help UMass win the 2016 Indoor Atlantic 10 title, winning gold with the distance medley relay, bronze with the 4x800m relay and bronze in the mile. At the conclusion of the 2016 indoor season, she was named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team.
Several of the Minutewomen seniors will wrap up their UMass careers this weekend, May, 14-15, at the New England Championships in New Haven, Conn.
