Women's Lax Heads to Boston College Wednesday Afternoon

AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass women's lacrosse team will put its 4-0 start to the season on the line Wednesday afternoon when the Minutewomen head to No. 14 Boston College. The game will be played at the Newton Campus Lacrosse and Soccer Complex with the opening draw set for 3 p.m.
The game will be broadcast on the BC Eagles streaming network, BCEagles.tv.
UMass enters the game with a 4-0 record and is ranked 18th in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Poll and receiving votes in the Inside Lacrosse Media and IWLCA Coaches polls. The Minutewomen topped Yale last Saturday, 13-3, at Garber Field.
Boston College comes into Wednesday’s contest 2-2 after losing to Louisville, 7-6, in overtime on Saturday.
Nicole Troost is coming off of a four-goal performance against Yale, the third game this year where the senior has scored at least four goals. Transfer sophomore Bella O’Connor also added two goals against the Bulldogs, the first multi-game goal of her Massachusetts career.
Sam Walters and Aileen Kelly each played a half in the win over Yale. Walters earned the win, stopping four shots in the first half. Kelly allowed just one goal in her 30 minutes, making four saves.
Erika Eipp leads the Minutewomen in points this season, totaling 21 points from 10 goals and 11 assists. Troost follows her with 13 goals and one assist, while Holly Turner has scored 11 points from eight goals and three assists.
Walters and Kelly have split time in goal, each playing one half per game. Walters is 4-0 in goal, earning the decision in each contest this season. Each goalie has 13 stops.
The Eagles have been led offensively by Caroline Margolis, who leads the team with 12 points from seven goals and five assists. Sarah Mannelly has 10 points from six goals and four assists, while Sam Apuzzo leads the team with eight goals.
Following the game, UMass will be off for 10 days until the Minutewomen head to UConn on March 12 (1 p.m.).
