AMHERST, Mass. - Despite being picked 10th in the preseason poll, the UMass men's soccer team used a strong run in league play to earn the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Tournament hosted by Davidson this upcoming week. The Minutemen (7-8-3 overall, 4-2-2 A-10) will take on No. 5 seed VCU on Thursday, Nov. 10 at Alumni Soccer Stadium on the campus of Davidson College.
This marks the first time since the 2007 and 2008 seasons that UMass has qualified for the A-10 Tournament in back-to-back seasons. The Minutemen finished tied for fourth last season but ultimately were the No. 5 seed due to tie-breaker rules.
This will be the second time UMass and VCU (6-9-3, 4-3-1) have met this season. The Minutemen won the regular-season match-up at Rudd Field thanks to a Golden Goal from Josh Jess in overtime. The Rams reached the A-10 Championship match last season.
