Unanswered Scoring Leads Field Hockey to 4-1 Win

Minutewomen tally four straight times, down La Salle on the road
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - University of Massachusetts field hockey scored four consecutive goals from as many Minutewomen for a 4-1 victory at La Salle's Hank DeVincent Field on Sunday afternoon. The win improved Massachusetts to 10-7 overall and 4-2 in league games while La Salle fell to 7-8 and 4-3 during Atlantic 10 action.
Sarah Hawkshaw, Celina Hocks, Melanie Kreusch and Nicole Miller tallied for the Minutewomen while Miller assisted on two conversions and Nicole Kuerzi also helped out on a goal. Emily Hazard made two saves in the cage for her 10th win of the season.
La Salle scored on its first penalty corner play of the game as Jess Hoffman knocked a shot in during the eighth minute of play. Abbey Lawrence and Sophie Lozowski had assists on the corner shot.
The Minutewomen took over scoring following the Explorers' early goal and punched in four goals on only nine shot attempts.
Hawkshaw's team-leadingĀ 11th goal evened the game at 1-1 only minutes later while Hocks' 21st-minute goal put the Maroon and White ahead for good. Miller assisted on both tallies.
Kuerzi found Miller open in the circleĀ during the 48th minute for the third Massachusetts goal as Miller fired in a high shot out of the reach of La Salle goalkeeper Rachel Hartman. Kreusch added the final tally via a penalty stroke at the 51-minute, 29-second mark.
Massachusetts led in shots, 9-3, including a 3-0 margin in the decisive second half. La Salle earned an 8-5 advantage in penalty corners. Hartman made four saves for the Explorers.
