AMHERST, Mass. - UMass rowing took to the shoreline on Saturday, September 26 for the team's annual River Clean Up on the Connecticut River in Hadley, Mass. as a part of a the university-wide Mass Impact program. The annual Mass Impact Day of Service is a sponsored program of Volunteer UMass. Students, staff, faculty and alumni from various varsity teams and registered student organizations across campus volunteered for the 4th annual event. The day looks to connect UMass volunteers to community organizations for a day of service, fun and community.

The UMass rowing team joined forces with the Connecticut River Watershed Council and the Yankee Rowing Club to remove debris from the shores of the Connecticut River. Following the team's regularly scheduled practice on Saturday morning, the 60-person roster packed onto barges and launches, armed with supplies to clean up their home regatta venue.

The team is set to host its first regatta this fall season on Sunday, October 11 at the Seven Sisters Sculling Regatta. The Minutewomen will compete in their first regatta this season on Saturday, October 3 for Head of the Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
