Coast-To-Coast Battle in Beantown
Women's XC Races To 17th At Battle In Beantown

BOSTON, Mass. - The Coast-to-Coast Battle In Beantown proved an excellent opportunity for the University of Massachusetts women's cross country program to showcase its talent in a field of 24 teams from across the nation. As a team, the Minutewomen took 17th with 540 points led by returning junior Heather MacLean, while Providence, Syracuse, and Georgetown captured the top-three spots in team scoring.
MacLean was first across the line for UMass, making her 2015 cross country debut with an 85th-place finish out of 205 competitors, completing the 5K course in 18 minutes, 16.0-seconds. Freshman Alexa Livingstone was again among the top-five finishers after her spectacular collegiate debut at the Minuteman Invitational, crossing the line second for the Minutewomen at 18 minutes, 46.8-seconds to claim 120th.
Senior Carly Zinner was close behind in 122nd, running 18:47.7. Sophomore Colleen Sands logged a time of 18 minutes, 53.3-seconds to claim 132nd and freshman Brook Hansel rounded out the top-five UMass finishers with a 140th-place finish and a time of 18:59.0.
Next up for the Minutewomen comes the Paul Short Invitational on Oct. 2. The race is slated to begin 11:45 a.m. at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.
