AMHERST, Mass. — The University of Massachusetts women's cross country program opened up their season with a dominant victory at the Ken O'Brien Invitational on Saturday. The Minutewomen were led by senior Lara Mannes Diaz de Cerio who took first in the event, helping lead UMass to a winning score of 18. Massachusetts held eight top-10 times, and nine in the top-11.

Massachusetts returns to action to compete in the Maribel Sanchez Souther Memorial Invitational at Dartmouth on September 19 in Hanover, N.H.
Highlights From Competition:
- Senior Mannes Diaz de Cerio paced the Minutewomen with a finishing time of 13:46.8.
- Rylee Shunney opened her season with a second place finish, crossing the line in 13:52.8.
- Ella Bosselman, Anna Todd and Rylee Davis finished consecutively with the fourth, fifth and sixth fastest times of 14:15.3, 14:16.0 and 14:23.6, respectively.
- In her first competition at UMass, junior transfer Emily Lamontagne placed eighth overall with a time of 14:27.3.
- Allison Chmielewski (9th) and Anna McElhinney (10th) rounded out the top 10 with times of 14:31.3 and 14:34.5, respectively.
- First-year Emily Wedlake took 11th in her first competition with a finish of 14:42.2.
