Sharpe Featured On Biletnikoff Award Watch List

TALLAHASSEE, Fla, - The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation placed University of Massachusetts football wide receiver Tajae Sharpe among 48 preseason watch list candidates for the 2015 Fred Biletnikoff Award Monday. Sharpe, a midseason addition to the 2014 Biletnikoff Award watch list, is the fourth Minuteman tabbed as a candidate for a major college football award in 2015.
As a junior in 2014, Sharpe ranked ninth nationally among NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision competitors in receiving yards per game (106.8) 10th for total receiving yards (1,281) and 11th in receptions per game (7.1). He was tops in the Mid-American Conference for receptions per game and second for receiving yards and receiving yards per game.
Any player who catches a pass, regardless of position, is eligible for the award, which recognizes the top collegiate receiver. The Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group 275 prominent college football journalists, commentators and former receivers, selects the award recipient.
The 10 semifinalists for the 2015 Biletnikoff Award will be announced on Nov. 16 before the three finalists are unveiled on Nov. 24. The winner of the 2015 edition of the Biletnikoff Award will be revealed during the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Dec. 10.
The Maroon and White begin their 2015 season with a contest at the University of Colorado on Saturday, Sept. 12. First kickoff is set for 2 p.m. and ticket information is available through UMass Ticket Central.
