PHILADELPHIA - UMass rowing wrapped up its pre-NCAA Championship competition with the second day of the Dad Vail Regatta on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. During events on Saturday, the Minutewomen earned three gold medals with top times from the Varsity 4+, Varsity 8+ and Second Varsity 8+ boats and brought home the top spot in the women's team standings for the second consecutive season. After it was initially ruled a tie for the top spot between Massachusetts and Bucknell, a recount of the points cemented the women's title for the Minutewomen.

The Second Varsity 8+ finished atop the standings in its semifinal heat as the boat crossed the finish line in 6:45.508 and advanced to the finals as a result. These Minutewomen brought their winning ways into the finale with the Coleman D. Boylan Trophy up for grabs and ended more than six seconds in front of Bucknell for the gold medal with a time of 6:40.401. The boat featured Haley Eovine, Rachel Boudreau, Samantha Wonderlin, Katherine Armstong, Hadley Irvin, Krysten Menks, Estefi Marti Malvido, Carly Zanatta and Grace Bundy.

Heather Pekarovich, Lauren St. Pierre, Emily Mann, Marika Kopp, Pippa Edwards, Aiste Balciunaite, Nicole Destefano, Haley York and Allanah Rubi-Mooney continued the trend of strong performances for the Minutewomen in the Varsity 8+, which won its semifinal heat in 6:31.808 ahead of Purdue in second (6:37.326). The group earned the Evelyn Bergman Trophy in the Varsity 8+ Grand Finale with its 6:36.376 finish, almost four seconds in front of Bucknell's boat.

The Varsity 4+ also took first in its semifinal race more than 12 seconds ahead of second place Temple and followed it up with gold in the grand finale for the Maragaret McNiff Trophy. Abigail Raichek, Hallie Dunlap, Sam Kolovson, Natalie Boisvert and Courtney Edson guided the boat to a 7:27.395 time while the Owls followed in 7:35.950. Raichek, Dunlap, Kolovson, Boisvert and Edson reached the finish in 7:28.673 and edged Bucknell for first as the Bison followed in 7:30.126.

The Novice 4+ Kelsey Anderson, Annecy Smith, Charlotte Bleiler, Emma Hibbard and Meghan Ouellette took second in its semifinal with a 7:40.040 finish, less than three seconds behind top qualifier North Carolina. Both boats advanced to the afternoon final with their performances, where the Minutewomen earned a bronze medal in 7:43.580.

The Novice 8+ concluded its weekend with a fifth place ending in its semifinal heat. Sofia Ordonez, Lauren Azuela, Keira Souza, Betsy Yang, Kayla Willey, Lauren McKim, Stephanie Giovenelli, Sonali Khanna and Michaela Bish reached the finish in 7:19.550. The Pair entry also wrapped up its Dad Vail racing in the semifinal round as Maggie Curran and Mia Bornstein took fourth in 8:13.366. Marti Malvido raced in the Women's 1x during Saturday as well and placed fourth in the final with a 8:33.819 finish.

The University of Massachusetts wraps up spring competition with its second consecutive trip to the NCAA Championship. The Maroon and White begin competition in Sacramento, California, on Friday, May 29.
