Tavares 11th In Steeplechase At IC4A

PRINCETON, NJ - The Minutemen completed day one of the IC4A Championship in Princeton, NJ. The UMass men's track and field squad competed four men in the tough first day of events. Among those, Paolo Tavares took eleventh in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and Kris Horn currently sits fourth in decathlon with a score of 3,594 points going into the second day.
Tavares captured 11th in steeplechase with a 9:00.35 performance. In the 10,000 meter run, sophomore Blake Croteau was 12th at 31 minutes, 18.38-seconds.
Kris Horn is enjoying a fourth place standing in decathlon at the close of day one's events. Among Horn's notable finishes were his 6 foot, 7.5-inch leap in high jump and his 37 foot, 4.5-inch throw in shot put. His efforts earned 3,594 points. Nick Ingham sits 10th with 3,238 points in decathlon going into the second day of competition. The decathletes will take on the 110 meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and the 1,500 meter run Saturday to determine final standings.
The second day of the IC4A Championships picks up Saturday, May 16 in Princeton, NJ. The morning begins with decathlon at 9:00 A.M.
