Quianna Diaz-Patterson Named To NFCA All-Region First Team

AMHERST, Mass. - Massachusetts softball standout Quianna Diaz-Patterson has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Northeast Region team as announced by the organization Thursday.
Diaz-Patterson earned the honor as the Minutewomen's starting shortstop after setting the UMass single-season records with a .504 batting average, .866 slugging pct. and .592 on-base pct. The batting and on-base percentages were also A-10 records.
The Amherst, Mass. native led the team with 40 hits, 13 doubles, three triples, 23 walks and five stolen bases. In league play she also paced the league with a dominating .530 avg., to go along with 19 runs, five doubles and five home runs.
She finished her career ranked third in school history with a .381 avg., fourth in slugging pct. (.603), third in on-base pct. (.467), seventh in runs (143), sixth in hits (212), fourth in doubles (47), eighth in triples (14), sixth in walks (77) and sixth in times hit by pitch (15).
371 players from 153 different teams across the nation were selected. The awards honor softball student-athletes from the NFCA's 10 regions with first, second and third teams selected for each region.
The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2015 NFCA Division I All-American teams. In addition, conference pitchers and players of the year not selected to the regional teams will be added for All-America consideration.
The 2015 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at approximately 5 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, May 27, via NFCA.org.
