AMHERST, Mass. - UMass rowing returns to the New England area to compete at Head of the Housatonic in Derby, Connecticut and the Seven Sisters Sculling Regatta in Hadley, Massachusetts on Sat., Oct. 10 and Sun., Oct. 11., respectively.

Last season, UMass competed in the same back-to-back regattas in the same weekend. The Minutewomen and head coach Jim Dietz combined to clinch 16 medals over the two days of competition in 2014.

Dietz kicked off the weekend with a third place finish in the Veteran Men's 1x with a time of 18:45. In the Women's Open 2x Krysten Menks and Emily Mann secured a first place win with a time of 17:23, while Carly Zanatta and Allanah Rubi-Mooney followed close behind for a second place finish at 18:18.

UMass earned its fourth medal of the day in the Open 4+ where Kelsey Anderson, Zoe Hill, Aiste Balciunaite and Nicole Destefano took second place at 17:35.

The following day, the Minutewomen hosted the Seven Sisters Sculling Regatta on the Connecticut River in Hadley, Massachusetts and netted a dozen medals. Rubi-Mooney and Hallie Dunlap set the tone early in the competition when the pair took third in the 2x in 19:38.2. The maroon and white then swept the podium in the early edition of the 1x with each medaling boat finishing within 23 seconds of one another.

Later that afternoon Menks and Mann continued to dominate the competition and contributed to a first place victory in the 4x alongside Sam Kolovson and Zanatta. Rubi-Mooney and Estefi Marti Malvido secured first in the 2x with a time of 19:33.7, while Dunlap and Grace Bundy crossed the line in 19:50.6 for second. Rounding out the afternoon, UMass swept the top three spots again in the 1x thanks to Lauren Azuela (22:09.4), Dunlap (22:16.9) and Courtney Edson (22:34.4).

This Saturday, 16 boats will represent UMass over six events at Head of the Housatonic. Head coach Jim Dietz will kick off the competition in the Veteran's Men 1x beginning at 8:45 a.m., before the Minutewomen take to the water in the Open 1x, Open 2x, Collegiate 8+, Collegiate 4+ and Open 2.
