MECHANICSVILLE, Va. - Senior Benjamin Groleau's individual runner-up showing at the Atlantic 10 Championship helped Massachusetts men's cross country take second in the field of 14 teams with 98 points on Saturday morning in Pole Green Park. Groleau's finish, which earned him his second career Atlantic 10 All-Conference nod, is the best individual showing by a Minuteman at the A-10 meet in program history.

Groleau, who was in seventh through the 3,427m split, completed the 8K course in 24 minutes, 41.2 seconds to place second in the field of 126 runners. Junior Paolo Tavares followed in 12th with a time of 24 minutes, 59.7 seconds to take home his first career A-10 All-Conference accolade.

Senior Daniel Sheldon was the third Minuteman to cross the finish line, claiming 17th with a 25-minute, 5.6-second run. Sophomore Samuel Conway came in 24th at 25 minutes, 13.9 seconds, and sophomore Jay McMahon rounded out the UMass scorers, placing 43rd with his time of 25 minutes, 31.2 seconds.

Saint Joseph's won the Atlantic 10 Championship with 77 points, while Davidson was third behind the Minutemen with 103 points. George Mason's Steven Flynn (24:21.1) captured the individual title.

The Minutemen will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 13, with the NCAA Northeast Regional meet set for 11:45 a.m. at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
