Men's Cross Country 12th at NCAA Regional Meet

BOSTON - University of Massachusetts men's cross country took 12th out of 37 teams on Friday at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship at Franklin Park in Boston. The Minutemen's day was highlighted by Ben Groleau's 49th-place finish at the meet as the senior was first across the line for UMass for the fifth time this season.
Groleau claimed 49th overall out of 255 runners, completing the 10K course in 31 minutes, 46.4 seconds. Sophomore Samuel Conway was next to finish for the Minutemen in 84th at 32 minutes, 18.1 seconds.
Paolo Tavares followed two seconds behind Conway at 32 minutes, 20.7 seconds to nab 87th, UMass third runner inside the top-100. Jay McMahon was fourth for the team at 32:41.0, good for 106th, while Daniel Sheldon rounded out the Minutemen's scorers with his 33 minute, 00.3 second run to 127th.
Syracuse took the crown at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship with 29 points, while Iona was runner-up with 40 points and Cornell nabbed third place with 114 points.
The Minutemen will be back in action Sat., Nov. 21, with the IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y. Start time is slated for 10:15 a.m.
