Glenn Wong to Serve as Honorary Captain on Saturday

AMHERST, Mass. – Glenn Wong, long-time University of Massachusetts faculty member and former interim UMass Athletics Director, will serve as the honorary game captain and will participate in the coin toss at UMass football’s McGuirk opener vs. Florida International, Sat., Oct. 3. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET on ESPN3.
Also serving as UMass’ Faculty Athletics Representative from 1993-2013, he was a member of the Isenberg School of Management Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management faculty from 1979-2015, focusing his educational efforts on sports and law, labor relations and intercollegiate athletics. In addition to his long-time support of the University and UMass Athletics, Wong is renowned for his work in professional sports labor relations, professional athlete representation and contract negotiation and professional development in sport management.
Saturday’s game marks the first between the Minutemen and the Panthers. Alex Faust and Matt Chatham will have the call for ESPN3. Josh Maurer, Matt Goldstein and Mike Antonellis will have the call on the UMass Sports Network on 105.5 FM WEEI (Springfield), 1200 AM WXKS (Boston), 830 AM WCRN (Worcester) and 95.9 FM WATD (South Shore).
Football season, group and single-game tickets can be purchased by calling 866-UMASS-TIX (7784) or visiting the Athletics Ticket Office at Mullins Center (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m.). Parking is free at McGuirk and tailgating opens four hours prior to kick. Minutefan Way offers fans and spectators the ultimate tailgating experience including the Minuteman Walk, dining options, inflatables, face painting, music and more.
Fans can attend a UMass football game at McGuirk for $20 per adult admission while a $10 per ticket youth option is available in select sections. Group opportunities include discounted ticket prices ($10 per ticket; minimum 10 tickets purchased), a welcome message on the video boards and on-field visits.
