UMass Wins Three Events In Five Team Meet

HADLEY, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts rowing program continued its spring season on Sunday afternoon on the Connecticut River and won three races against UNH, Wellesley, William-Smith and Williams. The Minutewomen took first in the Varsity 8+, second Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ events.

The UMass Varsity 8+ boat recorded the best time of the competition with a time of 6:02.24, which was only three seconds better than second place Wellesley. At this point in the spring season, the V8 boat is undefeated.

In the second Varsity 8+ race of the day, the Minutewomen claimed the top spot in 6:09.65, finishing seven seconds ahead of Williams. Also, winning its race was the Varsity 4+ boat with a time of 6:52.

The UMass rowing team will be in action next weekend (April 12-13) at the annual Knecht Cup in West Windsor, N.J.
