The UMass-Saint Louis Series
Massachusetts and Saint Louis have squared off 11 times in the history of the programs, with the Minutewomen victorious in each meeting. The last time these teams faced off, UMass dominated en route to an 11-0 victory at Saint Louis on Oct. 12, 2013. All-time, the Minutewomen have outscore the Billikens, 50-8, and have put up double-digit goal totals on two occasions, in 2009 during a 10-1 win and during 2013.
Shannon Knobloch and Kristin Collins each have seven points to lead the team in scoring. Knobloch has scored three times and assisted on one goal. Collins owns two tallies and three helpers. Faith Mackin follows with six points through three goals as the Billikens have been outscored, 70-18 while opponents hold a 193-46 lead in points.
Saint Louis employs a pair of goalkeepers in 2014. Tori Westhead has 13 appearances while Megan Depew-Brady has played in 10 games. Westhead has a 4.25 goals-against average and .706 save percentage. Depew-Brady has given up 6.30 goals per game and stopped 63.5 percent of the shots taken against her.
Hayley Rausch is in her first season as the head coach of the Billikens. Rausch, the 11th head coach in the history of the program, was an assistant for the program in 2013 after stops at St. Lawrence University and her alma mater, New Hampshire. UMass Secures A-10 Tournament Berth; Seeding Still Undecided
The University of Massachusetts field hockey team secured a berth in the Atlantic 10 Tournament with its 3-1 victory over La Salle on Friday, Oct. 24. The win gave the Minutewomen a 6-1 conference mark, but seeding for the tournament has not been decided. Depending on the outcome of the final weekend of the regular season, Massachusetts could be the No. 1, No. 2 or No. 3 seed. An explanation of each situation follows:
To be the No. 1 seed, UMass must defeat Saint Louis on Sunday, Nov. 2. The seven wins in eight conference games with a head-to-head tie-breaker over the only other team that could potential finished 7-1 (Lock Haven) gives the Minutewomen the advantage.
For UMass to be the No. 2 seed, Saint Louis must defeat the Minutewomen, Lock Haven must defeat Saint Francis (Pa.) and Richmond must lose to Davidson. At 6-2 in conference play in this situation, UMass would be second to Lock Haven's Atlantic 10 record (7-1). If Richmond loses to Davidson it would be 5-3 in conference, as would Saint Francis with a loss to Lock Haven. Richmond would be No. 3 and Saint Francis No. 4.
For UMass to be the No. 3 seed, Saint Louis must defeat the Minutewomen, Lock Haven must defeat Saint Francis and Richmond must defeat Davidson. Lock Haven would be the No. 1 seed and Richmond would own the tie-breaker over UMass. Saint Francis would be No. 4 in this situation.
UMass cannot end up as the No. 4 seed regardless of the outcome of the final weekend of regular season competition.
Tagliente Wins 50th Game As Head Coach
University of Massachusetts field hockey head coach Carla Tagliente earned her 50th win as the leader of the program at La Salle on Friday, Oct. 24. Tagliente is 50-33 overall, which includes a 24-3 record (.889 win percentage) in Atlantic 10 Conference play.

Sophomore forward Izzie Delario scored unassisted twice for the Minutewomen when UMass defeated La Salle, 3-1 on the road at DeVincent Field on Friday, Oct. 24.
