• Today's game captains for UMass were QB Blake Frohnapfel and LB Stanley Andre

• UMass won the coin toss and elected to receive the ball to start the first half

• Three Minutemen continued their `Ironmen' start streaks. LB Stanley Andre started his 33rd career game, while DB Randall Jette started his 32nd - all have been consecutive. Tajae Sharpe started his 19th straight and the 28th of his career.

• OL Matt Sparks returned to the starting lineup at center for his 21st career start.

• OL Tyrell Smith and DB Joe Colton each started their 20th career games.

• DB Trey Dudley-Giles made his first start of the season at cornerback after starting at safety for the previous eight games. DB Khary Bailey-Smith earned the start in Dudley-Giles place at safety.

• This was the first meeting between the two teams since the 1999 season and the first as MAC opponents. Toledo leads the all-time series 3-1.

• QB Blake Frohnapfel tied the UMass school record with five touchdowns. He was 28-of-55 for 438 yards - his second 400+ yard game this season and his fourth 300+ game.

• Frohnapfel now has 23 touchdown throws for the season which is tied for sixth in a single-season at UMass with Tim Day (2004).

• Frohnapfel's 438 yards passing stand as the third most for a single-game in UMass history. He previously set the school record with 589 yards against Bowling Green.

• Frohnapfel has 2,921 yards passing for the season which is now the 6th best performance for a single-season in program history. In today's game, he passed Kyle Havens (2,692 in 2010) and current UMass QB coach Liam Coen (2,749 in 2008). Frohnapfel needs 40 yards to move into fifth. He is currently 998 yards from tying the single-season passing record.

• Frohnpafel also moved into 9th on the UMass career passing chart with 2,921 yards. He is 210 yards away from tying Greg Landry (3,131, 1965-67).

• TE Jean Sifrin posted his second 100-yard game of the season with 185 yards receiving. He now has 544 yards receiving on the season and five touchdowns.

• Sifrin's 185 yards receiving ranks as the 6th most for a single game in program history.

• Sifrin's previous 100+ yard game was against Bowling Green (135 yards). He also has a touchdown in three of the last four games.

• Sifrin is the first tight end since 1997 to post a pair of 100+ receiving games in a single-season - single-game stats for tight ends only available through 1997. Rob Blanchflower was the last UMass tight end to have a pair of career 100+ yard receiving games (one in 2012 and one in 2013).

• WR Tajae Sharpe scored his first touchdown since having two against Bowling Green. The score marked the 9th of his career and his 5th of the season.

• With 965 receiving yards this season, Sharpe now ranks 8th for a single-season in program history. He passed Jason Peebler who had 976 yards in 2004. Peebler's 1,003 yard season in 2003 is next for Sharpe.

• Sharpe's 63 receptions this year moved him into 6th for a single-season at UMass. The career-best total for a season is now 8 catches away from Victor Cruz in 5th (71, 2008).

• Sharpe now has 1,851 receiving yards which ranks 7th all-time at UMass in career history. He is 107 yards shy of passing Victor Cruz (1,958, 2005-09).

• Sharpe's 144 career receptions continue to rank 5th all-time in career history at UMass. He needs four more to catch Brandon London (144, 2003-06).

• WR Shakur Nesmith hauled in the first touchdown of his career. He finished the game with the one catch for 15 yards.

• DB Trey Dudley-Giles posted his second interception of the season and of his career in the first half. His last interception was at Vanderbilt on Sept. 13, 2014. His return of 23 yards was a career long.

• DB Khary Bailey-Smith recorded his team-leading third interception of the season and the seventh of his career.

• LB Jovan Santos-Knox led the UMass defense with 12 tackles including six solo stops.

• LB Stanley Andre had eight tackles in the game. He moved into 9th all-time at UMass with his 159th career assisted tackle.

• DB Randall Jette broke up two passes in the game giving him 33 for his career. That ranks 3rd all-time in program history.

• Jette has 12 pass break-ups this season which is a career-best and ranks 8th in single-season history.

• DT Robert Kitching had a career-high 7 tackles which included a TFL for four yards.

• The UMass defense had two interceptions in the game for its second multi interception game of the season. The last game with 2-or-more interceptions as at Miami (Ohio) on Oct. 4, 2014.

• The loss marked the 5th time UMass has lost by one possession this season. The Minutemen have two 3-point loses, one 1-point loss, one 5-point loss and now one 7-point loss.

• UMass had 450+ yards of total offense for the 5th straight game.

• UMass was 4-of-5 on fourth down conversions which tied the season-high for both attempts and completions (previously done at Miami).

• UMass led at the half 20-14 marking the 6th time this year to lead at intermission (2-4 in those games).

• UMass trailed 28-20 after the third quarter snapping a streak of four-straight games where the Minutemen trailed going into the 4th quarter.

• After allowing just 15.5 points over the last two games, UMass allowed 42 marking the 5th time this season to give up 40+ points.

• UMass' 20 rushing attempts marked a season-low - the previous low was 22 in the season-opener against Boston College. The 52 yards rushing snapped a three-game streak with 100+ yards on the ground.

• As a team, UMass' 2,981 yards passing this year ranks as the 6th best in a single-season in program history. The Minutemen are 30 yards away from 5th (3,011, 2003) and 101 yards away from 4th (3,082, 2006). UMass is currently on pace to have the second-most passing yards for a single season as the record is 4,050 set in 1998.

• With 24 passing touchdowns this season, UMass is tied with the 2008 team for the fifth-most in a single season.

• With 435.4 yards of total offense per game, UMass is currently having the 3rd best single-season in program history. The 1998 team averaged 471.6 yards per game through 15 games.
