AMHERST, Mass. - After his stellar performance in the squad's come-from-behind win in the NIT quarterfinal last week, junior Terrell Vinson has been tabbed co-UMass Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday. Vinson shares the honor with baseball's Joe Popielarczyk as both will be honored at the weekly UMass Sports Luncheon this Wednesday.
Vinson came up big for the men's basketball team in its NIT quarterfinal victory at Drexel. The junior from Baltimore, Md. scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half to lead UMass back from a 17-point second-half deficit and 72-70 win to secure its third-ever berth in the NIT Final Four.
Vinson shot 6-of-10 from the floor after the intermission and collected four rebounds, two steals and a block.
