BOSTON, Mass. - With a final total of 11.50 points, the UMass men's track and field squad took home 18th in a field of 34 teams at the New England Championships. The Minutemen added four IC4A Championships qualifiers on day two of the highly competitive event.

Highlighting competition on the latter of the two-day NEC's was a 4x400 relay team and a 4x800 relay unit. The former of the two combined for a team time of 3:17.26 while placing seventh, and the latter produced a readout of 7:46.61 while grabbing eighth. Both marks qualified the quads for the IC4A Championships, and were team season best times in each respective event.

Sophomore Antony Taylor's (Arlington, Mass.) personal best time of 8:24.83 ranked seventh in the 3000 meter run in Boston, Mass. The Arlington, Mass. native's readout was good enough to qualify for next weekend's IC4A Meet. Also running past his competitors was Thomas Mullen (Bridgewater, Mass.) in the mile run. The second year clocked in at 4:13.10, marking a career-best time and one eligible to qualify for the IC4A Championships as well.

Rounding out the UMass faces at Boston University on Saturday included Paul Grafov (North Dartmouth, Mass.) in the 500 meter run finals. The junior registered a career-best time and the fifth-best in UMass history in the 500 on Friday. On day two Grafov recorded a time of 1:04.49 while taking home fifth.

Ken O'Brien's squad returns to action next weekend for the all-important IC4A Championships right back in the state's capital.
