The UMass rowing team will hold their 2011 season banquet on May 1 at the Clarion Hotel Ballroom in Northamption, Mass. The event, scheduled to begin at 3 PM, is held in conjunction with the men's rowing club team. To reserve your spot for just $35, please RSVP to the men's club team by April 18.
This year's speaker at the team banquet will be 1995 Massachusetts alum Amanda Kraus. Kraus, the founder and Executive Director of Row New York, which strives to empower young people from New York City's under-resourced communities to pursue excellence in all facets of their lives, through a unique combination of competitive rowing and individualized academic support. Row New York was founded in 2002 with the belief that a sport that teaches the invaluable lessons of teamwork, tenacity, and commitment to self and to others should be available to the young people of New York City. Today the program provides new opportunities for over 300 participants per year.
The Minutewomen will return to the water this weekend for the Knecht Cup on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J., beginning Saturday morning.
