Rowing Takes Two Of Three Races Against Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. - The UMass rowing team took two of three races against Holy Cross last weekend on Lake Quinsigamond. The Minutewomen defeated the Crusaders in the Second Varsity Eight and Novice Eight while the Varsity Eight finished in second place. Massachusetts will have two weeks off before returning to the water on May 13 for the two-day Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia.
The Novice Eight got UMass off to a fast start on Saturday, defeating Holy Cross by open water with a time of 7:59.00, winning by over 25 seconds.
The Second Varsity Eight continued the team's strong start with a 19 second win with a time of 7:14.00, beating out the Crusaders (7:33.00). The Varsity Eight closed out the day for the Minutewomen by dropping a tight race to Holy Cross, finishing just 1.1 seconds behind Holy Cross with a time of 7:13.30.
