Timbilla Signs With UMass Women's Basketball

AMHERST, Mass. - Rashida Timbilla, a 6-1 guard from Nepan, Ontario, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Minutewomen during the November early signing period, UMass women's basketball head coach Sharon Dawley announced on Monday. Timbilla joins Jasmine Harris, Nola Henry and Adriana Jordan as the fourth member of UMass' Class of 2016.
Timbilla, who is currently completing a postgraduate year at Northfield Mount Hermon School, graduated from John McCrae Secondary School in 2011. At NMH, she is a member of the basketball and soccer teams.
Timbilla played with Ottawa Nationals club team that posted a record of 19-1 and won the inaugural Ontario Junior Under 19 Elite League (JUEL) Championship in 2011 along with current Minutewoman Kim Pierre-Louis and was named to the JUEL All-Star Team. She also was a part of the Canadian Junior National Team that captured bronze at the 18U Tournament of the Americas in 2010.
As member of the Kanata Cavs club team, coached by Dean Tanasijevic, Timbilla helped her squad to a record of 22-5 and a No. 5 ranking in the province. In 2009-10, Timbilla averaged 20.4 points, 14.4 rebounds (6.1 offensive), 7.8 assists, 3.1 blocks and 2.8 steals per-game. She played an average of 27 minutes per-contest and posted a 74% free throw percentage, as well.
Timbilla was also a four-year varsity field hockey player for John McCrae, helping the team to a National Capital Secondary School Athletic Association title in 2010 and an undefeated record in the regular season. She was named the school's Senior Female Athlete of the Year and was the touch football team MVP as a senior. She is the daughter of Bawah and Adiza Timbilla.
