AMHERST, Mass. - Jasmine Harris, a 6-0 guard out of North Farmington High School in Farmington Hills, Mich., has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at UMass, head coach Sharon Dawley announced on Tuesday. Harris signed her NLI during the early November signing period.
Harris enters her senior campaign as a three-year letter winner under coach Tim Carruthers as a member of the NFHS Raiders. The Michigan native garnered an all-state selection as a junior in 2010-11, while also being named all-area, All-OAA, All-Observerland and team MVP. As a sophomore, Harris earned her first All-OAA and All-Observerland accolades and was tabbed the OAA's Most Improved Player. In addition to capturing the team's Coaches Award as a sophomore after helping the Raiders to an 18-2 record, she was chosen as the squad's Most Improved player as a freshman in 2008-09.
In 2010-11, Harris averaged 20 points, nine rebounds and six assists per-game and will attempt to break the North Farmington all-time scoring record this season.
Harris plans to major in Communications/Business and was chosen to represent North Farmington at the Leadership Diversity Conference for Oakland County in 2009-10. She is the daughter of Hiram and Janet Harris.
