AMHERST, Mass. -
The UMass women's cross country team played host to four teams this Saturday at the squad's only home meet of the season. Winning the meet with 41 points was Maine, followed by Boston College (46), Vermont (66), UMass (78) and Amherst (110).
Leading the way for UMass was sophomore Courtney Baldwin who finished the 5k in 17:58 and took fifth place overall. Senior Gina Perno placed 12th with a time of 18:18 while Junior Karen Roa was close behind in 15th place with a time of 18:24.
Also scoring for UMass was senior Elizabeth Fisk (18:37) and freshman Sarah Barrett (18:54) who finished 19th and 28th respectively. Barrett cracked the team's top five finishers for the first time in her UMass career.
The Minutewomen will be off next weekend and will hit the course again on Friday, Oct. 1 at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.
