Women's XC Bounds To 8th Place At A-10s

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The UMass women's cross country team competed in the Atlantic 10 Championships in Pittsburgh, Pa. this Saturday. Junior harrier Karen Roa led the Minutewomen to an eighth place finish out of the 14 teams at the conference meet. Richmond won the meet with 43 points, followed by La Salle with 68 points and Dayton with 75 points. UMass accumulated 200 points at the meet.
Roa was the team's top finisher at the meet, notching an 18th place finish by crossing at 18:16. Senior Elizabeth Fisk came in next for UMass at 18:41 and took 38th place. Gina Perno scored once again by finishing with a time of 18:45 and placing 43rd out of 139 total runners.
Rounding out the top five finishers for UMass were Courtney Baldwin and Claire Pettit. The two had respective times 18:45 and 19:01, and finishes of 45th and 56th place.
The Minutewomen will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 13 for the NCAA Championships in Madison, Conn. The meet will begin at 11:00 a.m.
