Women's XC Competes At Boston College Invite

BOSTON, Mass. - The UMass women's cross country team competed in the Boston College Invitational this Saturday, taking eighth overall out of ten teams with 193 points. The meet featured five teams (Boston College, University of New Hampshire, Stony Brook, Maine, Brown) that were ranked inside the top 15 overall squads in the 2010 Preseason Women's Cross Country Northeast Regional Rankings by the USTFCCCA.
Crossing first for the Minutewomen was sophomore-harrier Courtney Baldwin who clocked in at 19:03 and placed 41st overall. Gina Perno was close behind as the senior finished in 19:04 and took 42nd place.
Elizabeth Fisk and Karen Roa also had a neck-and-neck finish, as the two posted times of 19:10 and 19:11 respectively. Fisk grabbed 46th overall while Roa finished in 47th.
Rounding out the top-five finishers for UMass was junior Jennifer Harkey who completed the 5k in 19:27, good for 54th place overall.
The Minutewomen will hit the course again next Saturday, Sept. 18 when UMass hosts the first home meet of the season in Amherst. The meet will begin at 11:30 a.m.
