UMass Represented At USRowing U-23 Trials

AMHERST, Mass. - Five UMass rowers competed in the USRowing Under 23 World Championship Trials this weekend on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J. for a chance to represent the United States at the 2010 World Rowing U-23 Championships. The Minutewomen were represented by Emily Boucher, Alexandra DiMatteo, Megan Donovan, Elizabeth Euiler and Chelsea Wakeham. The U-23 World Championships will take place from July 22-25 in Brest, Belarus.
Boucher (Lee, N.H.), racing as part of the Durham Boat Club, took first in the lightweight single sculls by seven seconds with a time of 7:57.691 to earn a spot on Team USA. Boucher also took gold in the event during the USRowing Collegiate National Championships.
Euiler and Donovan competed for the All-American Rowing Camp in the lightweight double sculls, crossing the finish at 7:33.615, good for a second place finish. Following the race, the duo was forced to make a quick turnaround in order to participate in the lightweight quad with fellow Minutewoman Wakeham. The quad clocked in at 7:11.571, a fourth place finish. The next day, the boat raced in the USRowing Elite National Championships where they finished third with a time of 7:02.271.
DiMatteo, a 2010 Atlantic 10 Second-Team honoree, competed in the open single over the weekend, finishing fourth with a time of 8:25.645 for the All-American Rowing Camp.
