Donovan Named A-10 Rowing Student-Athlete Of The Year

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass senior Megan Donovan has been named the 2010 Atlantic 10 Rowing Student-Athlete of the Year, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon. This is the second A-10 award of the season for Donovan, who was named to the All-Conference First Team in mid-April.
The Orange, Mass. native has been an integral part of the Minutewomen squad throughout the 2009-10 season. She was a member of the Second Varsity 8+ and Quad boats that earned runner-up finishes at the annual Atlantic 10 Championships. Her First Team All-Conference selection helped Massachusetts to a second place finish at the conference championships out of a nine-team field.
Donovan is a Kinesiology major with a 3.966 GPA during her college career. This is her second straight Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference selection, and was named to the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll following the Fall 2009 semester.
Donovan and the rest of the Minutewomen will compete in the Dad Vail Regatta this Friday and Saturday in Philadelphia.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Senior Megan Donovan of Massachusetts has been named the Atlantic 10's Student-Athlete of the Year in women's rowing in voting conducted by the Conference's sports information directors.
Donovan was a member of both the Second Varsity 8+ and Quad boats that finished runner-up at the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championship on Apr. 17 in Pennsauken, N.J. The Orange, Mass., native garnered first-team All-Conference distinction as the Minutewomen placed second in the nine-team field. Donovan also competed in the Varsity 4+, Lightweight 4+ and Lightweight 8+ races at the Knecht Cup on Apr. 10-11 in Camden, N.J.
In the classroom, Donovan boasts a 3.966 grade point average as a kinesiology major. She is a two-time Academic All-Conference selection and was named to the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll in the Fall 2009.
Joining Donovan on the 2010 Women's Rowing Academic All-Conference team are Danielle Brady, Colleen Greway, Katie Herdmann and Lauren Rozsits of Saint Joseph's; Dayton's Katherine Bruening and Lydia Caldwell; Chelsea Breitenbach of Duquesne; Fordham's Stephanie Narduzzo; and Jenessa Redfern of Rhode Island.
