Minutemen Compete On Final Day of Giegengack Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The men's indoor track and field team saw the majority of its competitors in action on Saturday at day two of the Giegengack Invitational. The meet which was held at Yale was the first trip south of the state border for the Minutemen this season.
Leading the way for the UMass was Andrew McCann in the 3000 meter run as he captured tenth place. The senior missed qualifying for the New England Championships by 0:00.89 as he took a time of 8:32.89. In the 5000 meter run it was Jeff Hill taking second place with a time of 15:09.97.
Finishing strong for the Minutemen was Sean Busch once again. He took fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 15-03.00. At last week's Reebok Boston Indoor Games, the sophomore qualified for the New England Championships.
A strong finisher in the field events on day two was Brian Miller as he jumped a distance of 6-02.25 in the high jump, good enough for ninth place.
The Minutemen will be back in action for a fifth consecutive weekened on Friday, Feb. 12 and Saturday, Feb. 13 as the team hits the state's capital for the Valentince Invitational. The start times are 2:30 pm and 11:00 am respectively.
