PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Former UMass standout wideout Brandon London has signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. London did not play in the NFL in 2009 after being released just prior to the season by the Miami Dolphins. He appeared in 14 games with the Phins in 2008. London helped lead UMass to the 2006 NCAA Championship game.
The Steelers added depth to their offseason roster by signing punter Adam Graessle and London.
London (6-4, 215) was originally signed by the New York Giants as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Massachusetts in 2007. He spent the 2007 season on the Giants' practice squad and was released prior to the 2008 season. London was then claimed by the Miami Dolphins on Aug. 31, 2008, and appeared in 14 games (one start) with three catches for 30 yards. He was released by the Dolphins prior to the 2009 season.
In 2006, London led UMass in receptions (50) and receiving yards (781) during his senior year. He finished second at UMass in career catches with 148, and became only the seventh UMass player with 100 or more career catches. He ranks third on the school's all-time list in receiving yards with 2,022. He is tied for fourth in career receiving TDs at UMass with 15, and is tied for fifth-best in single-season receiving touchdowns with nine.
