Minutewomen Fall To Northeastern In Saturday Afternoon Meet

AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass women's swimming and diving team came up short Saturday losing to Northeastern, 160-129, in Boston, Mass. This drops UMass to 2-3 in dual meets and is the eighth straight head-to-head win for Northeastern over the Minutewomen.

The Minutewomen had three individual wins on the day by Molly Elkins and Ingrid Woelfel. Elkins continued to be a standout on the diving board for the women's team claiming first in both the one and three-meter dives. She scored 248.15 in the one-meter and 237.53 in the three-meter.

Woelfel placed first in the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:01.52, and third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.90. Tavis Potter, finished second behind Woelfel in the 100 IM (1:01.66), she also took second in the 50-yard breaststroke (31.83) and third in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.70).

The women also won the 200-yard freestyle relay as Jenn Corriveau, Sarah Kanellas, Anna Cavanaugh and Amina Meho combined for a time of 1:39.97.

The Minutewomen have a month off as they prepare for their trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico on January 8 to participate in the Loyola Invitational.
