Baldwin Leads WXC At New England Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The UMass women's cross country team nabbed an 11th place finish at today's New England Championships in Boston. Out of the 47 teams at the meet, the Minutewomen bested 36 of them and totaled 325 points. Boston College won the race with 26 points, followed by UConn with 116 points.
Sophomore Courtney Baldwin paved the way for UMass with a 39th place finish and a time of 18:41 while Junior Karen Roa (18:45) was close behind in 46th place. Senior Gina Perno continued her steady production, crossing at 18:51 and taking 55th place out of 322 total harriers.
Rounding out the top five performers for UMass were Elizabeth Fisk (18:54) and Jennifer Harkey (19:31) who had respective finishes of 63rd and 122nd place.
The Minutewomen will compete again next Friday, Oct. 15 at the Rothenberg Race in Warwick, R.I. The race will begin at 3:40 p.m. at Goddard Park.
