Minutewomen Grab Fourth In Rhode Island

Warwick, R.I. - The UMass women's cross country team took fourth place out of seven team's at Friday's Rothenberg Race in Warwick, R.I. Brown University hosted and won the meet with 18 points, while UMass took the fourth spot with 119 points.
Taking the top honors for UMass once again was Courtney Baldwin. The sophomore harrier finished the 5k in 18:29 and notched a 16th place finish. Gina Perno was right on her heels at 18:30, and was able to take 18th place out of the 92 total runners. Elizabeth Fisk was right with that pack as well, crossing at 18:34 and finishing in 21st place.
Freshman Mary Cole and Sarah Barrett rounded out the team's top five finishers. Cole scored the first points of her UMass career, taking 31st place with a time of 19:03. Barrett had a time of 19:09, good for 33rd place overall.
The Minutewomen will have next weekend off, and will hit the course once again on Saturday, Oct. 30 for the Atlantic 10 Championships in Pittsburgh, Pa. The race will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will take place in Schenely Park.
