Ploch, Boney, Lecluyse Earn Postseason A-10 Tennis Honors

AMHERST, Mass. - Three UMass women's tennis players have received postseason Atlantic 10 awards, highlighted by freshman Magdalena Ploch, who was named the league's Most Outstanding Rookie Performer and a First Team All-Conference honoree. Ploch is the first Minutewoman to earn the rookie distinction since Francesca Mancini in 2001. Sophomore Candynce Boney was also named to the All-Conference Second Team while junior Maude Lecluyse earned her first Academic All-Conference distinction.
Ploch had an outstanding rookie campaign in Amherst, finishing with a 10-9 singles record to go along with the same 10-9 mark in doubles while playing at the top of the lineup. The highlight of her season came at Boston University, when she rallied from one set down to top reigning America East Player of the Year Francine Whu, 2-6, 6-0, 6-4. She also topped Albany's No. 1 to earn her first of two A-10 Rookie of the Week honors along with being named UMass/Dinn Bros. Athlete of the Week.
Boney followed up her First Team All-Conference performance as a freshman by being named to the second team this year. She finished the year as the team-leader in singles wins (15) while her final doubles mark stood at 13-13.
Lecluyse impressed on the courts and in the classroom to earn her first Academic All-Conference honor. Playing anywhere from Nos. 3-6 singles, she finished the season with 13 wins to along with an 18-14 doubles mark. Already one of the greatest doubles players in program history, Lecluyse will enter her senior season in sixth on the UMass all-time doubles wins list with 52. She teamed with senior Laura Danai to win their first 10 doubles matches of this season. In the classroom, the accounting major has put up a stellar GPA of over 3.9.
The Minutewomen finished the season in sixth in the conference. The year was highlighted by Head Coach Judy Dixon's 200th win at UMass. There were also impressive victories over Albany, Columbia, and eventual NEC Champion Long Island.
