Massachusetts Tennis Team Wins On Sunday, Defeating Quinnipiac, 5-2

HAMDEN, Conn. - The University of Massachusetts women's tennis team scored a victory on Sunday afternoon against the Quinnipiac Bobcats, 5-2. The Minutewomen (9-11) earned the first point of the match due to wins at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles. UMass continued their success into singles play, winning four out of the six matches.

At No. 2 doubles, Maude Lecluyse and Laura Danai dropped only one game en route to their win against Quinnipiac's Lisanne Steinert and Shawna Sarson. Candynce Boney and Lauren MacKay came away with a win at No. 3 doubles against Kasey Rosenberger and Nicole Adams, giving UMass the doubles point.

In singles play Minutewomen Kaitlyn Carpenter, Lecluyse, and seniors Danai, and MacKay were victorious. At No. 2 singles, Carpenter defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-4. At. No. 4 singles Lecluyse won 6-1, 6-3. At No. 5 singles, Danai dropped only two games before winning 6-0, 6-2. At No. 6 singles MacKay won 6-3, 6-1.

The Minutewomen return to action on Thursday, Apr. 9 when they host the University of Rhode Island at 3:00 p.m. They then host Temple University on Friday, Apr 10.
