Rowing Opens Up Fall Season This Weekend

AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass women's rowing team will kick off its fall season this weekend as the Minutewomen will travel to Derby, Conn. to compete in the Head of the Housatonic. Massachusetts has entered boats in 18 races, including singles races by Julia Richter and Samantha Smith. The Minutewomen, winners of 13 Atlantic-10 Championships, will race next weekend in the prestigious Head of the Charles in Boston.
While most of the squad will head to Boston for the Head of the Charles on October 17-18, some Minutewomen will race in the Pumpkin Head Regatta at home in Amherst. Following that, UMass will participate in the Head of the Fish in Saratoga, N.Y. on October 25.
Massachusetts will turn the calendar into November with the Dartmouth Novice Head on November 7 in Hanover, N.H. before concluding its fall season back in Boston for the Foot of the Charles on November 14.
