AMHERST, Mass. - Field hockey junior forward Katie Kelly was recognized for an outstanding week on the field by being named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week on Monday. The Minutewomen's captain shattered her career-high with eight points on two goals and four assists in a 10-1 rout over Saint Louis on Sunday. She shares this week's honor with Saint Joseph's Theresa Testa.

This is Kelly's second A-10 Player of the Week honor of the season and second of her career. She also won the award on Sept. 28 of this year and Sept. 8, 2008.

With two goals and four assists, Kelly played a hand in six of #16 UMass' 10 goals in the 10-1 victory on Sunday. She staked the Minutewomen to an early lead by scoring the game's first goal and assisting on the second. She logged her second goal and another assist just before halftime and two more assists in the second half.

The Dedham, Mass. native is tied with Makaela Potts for the team lead in goals with eight, and is second to Potts in points with 21. Her two goals also made her the Minutewomen's current active goals scored leader with 22.

UMass scored its second-most goals in program history 30 years to the day the program record was set. The #16 Minutewomen's 10-1 win over Saint Louis on Sunday was their highest goal output since an 11-1 win at Smith College on Oct. 25, 1979. UMass was 1-1 on the week with a 1-0 loss at home to Richmond on Friday.

Head coach Justine Sowry's Minutewomen close the regular season this week with a three-game homestand. On Wednesday, they host Dartmouth in a 6 p.m. non-conference game. This weekend UMass hosts La Salle on Friday at 3 p.m. and West Chester on Sunday at noon in key A-10 games. Sunday's game will also be Senior Day at Garber Field.
