Camden, N.J. - On Saturday, April 19, the UMass women's rowing team looks to extend the longest Atlantic 10 Championship streak in any sport when they compete on the Cooper River. Last year, the Minutewomen defeated Rhode Island by a single point to mark the closest finish in conference history. UMass won the championship on the backs of the quad boat, which finished 24 seconds in front of second place URI for the second-fastest time in Atlantic 10 Championship history. The Minutewomen also won silver in the varsity eight, the second varsity eight, the varsity four, the novice eight, and the lightweight four.

At the start of the season, UMass and URI were tied in voting done by Atlantic 10 coaches. The two teams faced each other at the Yankee Cup and the Knecht Cup, with the Rams ousting the Minutewomen both times in close contests.

The championships begin at 8:00 a.m. with trials on Saturday on the Cooper River near Camden, N.J. Finals commence at approximately 11:50 a.m. The Minutewomen raced this course last weekend at the Knecht Cup. UMass will face Dayton, Duquesne, Fordham, George Washington, La Salle, Rhode Island, Saint Joseph's and Temple in seven events.
