A-10 Announces 2008 Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams

AMHERST, Mass. - As announced by the league, senior captain Kate Mills (Elkton, Md.) was named to the 2008 Atlantic 10 Second Team All-Conference and senior Pam Rosanio (Southampton, Pa.) received an honorable mention. Kate Mills, a preseason third team pick, finished the regular season third in the conference in scoring and blocks, second in free throw percentage, fifth in field goal percentages, and ninth in rebounding. Mills was named A-10 Player of the Week a conference-leading four times this season. Rosanio finished fifth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring, eighth in field goal percentage, and 10th in free throw percentage, and 14th in assists.

Top honors in the league went to George Washington's Kimberly Beck who was named Player of the Year while Duquesne's Kristi Little earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. Ta'Shia Phillips of Xavier was tabbed Rookie of the Year as well as Second-Team All Conference.

Kate Mills is entering the 2008 post season with having played 116 games with the Minutewomen. This season, Mills broke the career blocks record against St. Bonaventure (2/27) with eight blocks in the game. Mills passed Melissa Gurile's mark of 182 for first on UMass' all-time list and currently has 191 career blocks. Mills also has moved up on the all-time scoring list. Mills has moved into fourth place with 1,508 points after surpassing Barbara Hebel's 1,498 points by scoring 13 at Temple (3/1). On December 4, Mills also surpassed the 500-rebound mark for career by tallying six rebounds at St. John's and currently had a career total 651 rebounds.

Now in her senior year, Pam Rosanio continues to be a leader in the backcourt. Rosanio is second on the team in scoring (16.1 ppg), assists (3.3) and minutes (34.3). In the season opener against Vermont (11/9/07), Rosanio became the 17th player in UMass history to reach the 1,000 point mark. Rosanio is now seventh on the all-time leading scorers list with a total 1,455 points. In addition, Rosanio now sits at-top the all-time minutes played with a career total 3,864 minutes logged. She broke Melissa Gurile's mark of 3,737 at Duquesne (2/20) to become the all-time UMass leader.

On Friday, the Minutewomen will face Dayton in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Championship.
