UMass Rowing Places Second At Yankee Cup

The UMass women's rowing team took second place at the Yankee Cup on Saturday in Kingston, R.I at the URI Campanella Rowing Center. Rhode Island won the event for the second consecutive year, finishing with 29 points. UMass scored 22 points, while UConn placed third with 15 and UNH was fourth with 10 points. The Minutewomen's second varsity eight, with rowers Sarah Marsan, Haley Fitzgerald, Airlina Burrill, Amanda Mawn, Terri O'Brien, Erin Kelly, Rachael Nealer, and Sam Smith, won their event by eight seconds. The Yankee Cup is determined by awarding points to the varsity eight, second eight, varsity four, and novice eight.
