Sanders' Gem Captures A-10 Pitcher Of The Week

PHILADEPHIA, Pa. - Sophomore pitcher Bailey Sanders was named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week for her outstanding performance at the USF Under Armour Showcase, it was announced Monday.
Sanders threw her first-career no-hitter in an 8-0 victory of Rutgers on Sunday in Clearwater, Fla. The sophomore right-hander struck out two batters while holding the Scarlet Knights hitless for the first time this season en route to her third win of the season.
This is the third Pitcher of the Week honor that UMass has claimed from the A-10 conference. Junior pitcher Brandice Balschmiter was named A-10 Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 18 and March 3.
The Minutewomen, who sit at 9-10 on the season, head to Fordham Thursday to open up A-10 Conference play. UMass will play a double-header against the Rams starting at 12 p.m. EST. The Minutewomen will then head to La Salle on Saturday for a twinbill starting at 12 p.m. EST. UMass will play La Salle at Warren Field on the University of Pennsylvania campus.
