Danielle Bolt Named UMass/Dinn Bros. Athlete of the Week

AMHERST, Mass. - Red shirted senior Danielle Bolt (Mattapan, Mass.) was named the UMass/Dinn Bros. Athlete of the Week after recording the third fastest time at UMass is the 55 meter dash. On Friday, Bolt competed in the Reebok Boston Indoor Games held at the Reggie Lewis Center. Bolt's first place time of 7.16 became the third fastest time at UMass and qualified her for the New England Championships and the ECAC. Bolt also qualified for the New England Championships with her fourth place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.07 seconds.
Before UMass, Bolt attended Youngstown State where she was named the 2006 outdoor track Outstanding Running Performer. She was also named the Horizon League Newcomer of the Year during the 2003-2004 Indoor/Outdoor track seasons. At Youngstown State, Bolt holds indoor personal bests in the 60 meter dash (7.51seconds), the 200 meter dash (24.56seconds) and outdoor personal bests in the 100 meter dash (11.82 seconds) and 200 meter dash (24.61seconds). Bolt is a 2003 graduate of Brookline High School where she was the indoor and outdoor Bay State, State, and New England Champion in the 60 meter and 100 meter dash. Bolt was the first female at Brookline High to win an indoor/outdoor New England Championship.
Danielle Bolt will be honored at the UMass Sports Luncheon this Wednesday afternoon. The luncheon will begin at Noon and will he held in the Massachusetts Room on the 3rd floor of the Mullins Center. Softball Coach Elaine Sortino will be the featured speaker. Following the luncheon, please stay to watch the Women's Basketball game vs. Fordham.
