UMass Baseball Drops Opener At UCF, 6-1

Orlando, Fla. - The UMass baseball team opened its season with a 6-1 loss to the University of Central Florida, Friday night in Orlando. Lou Prioetti had two hits and Bryan Garrity singled in Ryan Franczek for UMass' only run in the ninth inning.

UMass' Chris Lloyd (0-1) started the game and went five innings, allowing four runs on five hits. He walked only one and struck out four and was the losing pitcher. He allowed four runs in the third, three coming on a home run by Kiko Vazquez.

UCF's starting pitcher Austin Hudson (1-0) was the winner, pitching six scoreless innings.

UCF is now 9-9 and will host the Minutemen again Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
