UMass Rowing Races Twice This Weekend

Amherst, Mass. - The UMass women's rowing team will be back in the water, racing twice this weekend. The Minutewomen will look defend their title at the Yankee Cup in Kingston, R.I, on Saturday. UMass will take on Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island for the Yankee Cup. Then will travel to Orchard Beach, N.Y., on Sunday to challenge Colgate, Holy Cross and Iona.

The Minutewomen are coming off a season opening win over both New Hampshire and Coast Guard last weekend at home.

This weekend UMass' probable boat lineup is:

Varsity 8: Ellen Maskrey, Gabrielle Papineau, Sarah Marsan, Hannah Brewster, Airlina Burrill, Amanda Mawn, Elizabeth Hayashida, Tara Guinan, and coxswain Dana Pulda.

2nd Varsity 8: Andrea Morand, Haley Fitzgerald, Karen Plevock, Erin Kelly, Rachael Nealer, Anna Welch, Kristen Boyce, Julie Markus, and coxswain Jeanine LeDoux.

3rd Varsity 8: Anna Malinkevich, Karalyn Walk, Courtney Mulvihill, Stephanie Rist, Mezghan Dempster, Sarah Potts, Abby Lively, Maria Arcari, and coxswain Molly Morgan.

Lightweight 4: Malinkevich, Potts, Lively, Arcari, and coxswain Morgan.

Varsity 4: Mulvihill, Walk, Rist, Emily Reynolds, and coxswain LeDoux.

Novice 8: Sarah Albert, Meghan Caffrey, Chelsea Finnegan, Jennifer Rivero, Samantha Smith, Kathryn Kern, Stacey Susienka, Allison Donzanti, and coxswain Melissa D'Amico.

2nd Novice 8: Laura Silverman, Lindsay Dawson, Tracey Crowley, Kristen Brown, Natalie Regis, Genna Pinto, Sarah Madden, Ashley Han, and coxswain Danielle Augeri.

Novice 4: Shelby Fallon, Amy Rayla, Claire Champine, Jessica Romain, and coxswain Miriam Iken.

Novice 4A: Albert, Caffrey, Finnegan, Rivero, and coxswain D'Amico.

Novice 4B: Smith, Kern, Susienka, Donzanti, and coxswain Augeri.

Novice Lightweight 4: Silverman, Romain, Madden, Han, and coxswain Julie Pulda.

From Newport Take Route -138 West towards Jamestown and New York Merge onto Route 1 South Follow Route 1 South to a stoplight for Route 138 Cars: Make a U-turn at the light Follow Route 1 North for 0.7 of a mile Turn right onto Walmsley Lane. Park on Walmsley ONLY FACING DOWNHILL ON THE LEFT. Trailers: Go through the stoplight of Route 1 South and 138, stay in the right lane and use the reverse direction turning lane to make a U-turn onto Route 1 North. You will go back through the light at Route 1 & 138. Travel 0.7 of a mile Turn right onto Walmsley Lane (a turning lane is available) Drive down and fork left onto boathouse driveway - this is where you will park

From the North Take I-95 South Take Exit #9 a Left exit to route 4 South towards Newport/South County Merge onto RI-4 South RI-4 will merge with Route 1 South Follow Route 1 South to a stoplight for Route 138 Cars: Make a U-turn at the light Follow Route 1 North for 0.7 of a mile Turn right onto Walmsley Lane. Park on Walmsley ONLY FACING DOWNHILL ON THE LEFT. Trailers: Go through the stoplight of Route 1 South and 138, stay in the right lane and use the reverse direction turning lane to make a U-turn onto Route 1 North. From the South Take 95 North Get off at exit #3A Route 138 West towards Kingston and Newport Follow Route RI-138West/Kingstown Rd. for approximately 13 miles (You will pass the University on the left) Cars & Trailers: At the Route 1 intersection take a left onto Route 1 North. Travel 0.7 of a mile Turn right onto Walmsley Lane (a turning lane is available) Cars: park on Walmsley. ONLY FACING DOWNHILL ON THE LEFT. Trailers & VIP's drive down and fork left onto boathouse driveway.

Directions to Orchard Beach, N.Y.: From I-95 South take exit 15, which is US-1. You will be going towards New Rochelle and the Pelhams. Go right on Weyman Ave. Continue on to Grand Island Appr.
